Parents,
We have added a day to the final Registration Verification days. You will need to stop by the school any time July 30, 31, August 1, or August 2 between 8:00 AM and 3:00 to pick up your Handbook and sign a document of Agreement and Cooperation. We cannot allow a child to report to class on the first day of school unless a copy of this form is on file in our office. We'll also need you to fill out an E-rate federal grant survey that helps the school recover a huge portion of our telephone and internet costs during the year. Kim and Ronda will let you know how much your fees will be for this year and you will determine how those costs will be paid.
We will have some used uniforms for sale those days. The office will remain open until 6:00 PM on August 31 for those who need to stop by after work.
Orientation for Pre-K students will be 9:00 August 9th. Open House for Kindergarten and Orientation for ALL other students who are NEW to our school this year will be at 9:00 on Monday, August 12th.
The first day of school for all students is Tuesday, August 13th. K-8th graders get dropped-off in front of the gym by 7:50 and Pre-K children get dropped off near the wooden picnic tables at 8:25 each day.
The one big policy change at the school this year will be a new limit to early "sign-outs" for each child. Children can be signed-out earlier than 2:40 only three times every quarter with no consequences. On a fourth early sign-out in a grading period, the child will have to serve an after school detention and any others beyond four in a quarter will result in a $25 Saturday school. We are doing this to re-emphasize the importance of academics at the school and to encourage parents to make appointments after 3:00 whenever possible. This policy will also be in effect for students leaving the school to attend sports games. Athletes will only be dismissed before 2:30 for games being played outside of Duval County.
